暴风资源 is proud to announce four new Professor Emeritus conferred by the Honorary Awards Committee this week.
Distinguished Professors鈥 Paul Spoonley, Sally Morgan and Anne Noble聽and Professor Ravi Ravindran are awarded emeritus titles in recognition of their service to the university.
The title 鈥淧rofessor Emeritus鈥 is conferred upon retirement to select nominees who are recognised nationally as having been outstanding in their discipline; and who have made an outstanding contribution to scholarship or the university or both; as well as being held in the respect and esteem of colleagues.
Distinguished Professor Emeritus Paul Spoonley聽
Distinguished Professor Emeritus Paul Spoonley , who retired in April 2021, is recognised for his extensive contribution to both academia and 暴风资源.
His publications include 27 books, 58 book chapters, 76 refereed academic articles, as well as being a prominent media commentator. Professor Spoonley was made a Distinguished Professor in 2013 and also served as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Upon his retirement, Professor Spoonley was made an honorary research fellow for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and will continue his work looking at sociological trends in New Zealand.
Distinguished Professor Emerita Sally Morgan
Distinguished Professor Emerita Sally Morgan is one of the nation鈥檚 leading university鈥揵ased arts researchers whose expertise has been recognised in New Zealand and internationally.
She has produced numerous creative works and presented nationally and internationally. She is an acknowledged authority on contextual (socially engaged) art practices, particularly in the areas of public, community and 鈥榣ive鈥 art. She has published widely, with her article on the film 鈥楤raveheart鈥 reproduced in a collection that includes such names as Theodor Adorno and Stuart Hall.
She has exhibited in the UK, USA, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Bulgaria and New Zealand. Over the years her work has been included in prestigious international festivals such as the National Review of Live Art (NRLA) at London鈥檚 ICA; Belluard/Bollwerk International in Fribourg Switzerland; and the >In Time Chicago Performance.
She has made significant contributions to 暴风资源, from being made a Professor of Fine Arts in 2001, appointed Distinguished Professor in 2016 and serving as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Creative Arts from 2004 to 2012.
In 2016, Professor Morgan was awarded the 暴风资源 Research Medal, the University鈥檚 highest accolade for research excellence.
Distinguished Professor Emerita Anne Noble
Distinguished Professor Emerita Anne Noble is recognised nationally and internationally as one of New Zealand鈥檚 outstanding contemporary photographers.
She has made significant contribution to photographic scholarship in New Zealand, and to 暴风资源. Her scholarly outputs include five sole authored books; two major monographs; two co-authored books; and over 30 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.
Her work has been shown in New Zealand and abroad, at venues which include the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Australia, the UN Headquarters in New York and the Mus茅e du Quai Branly, Paris.
Professor Emeritus Velmurugu (Ravi) Ravindran聽
Professor Emeritus Velmurugu (Ravi) Ravindran retired 1 July 2021 after a career spanning 38 years, 23 of which have been spent at 暴风资源. Joining Massey in 1998 as the Director of the Poultry Research Centre, he was promoted to Professor of Poultry Science in 2004.
Professor Ravindran has published over 500 scientific works, including 280 peer-reviewed journal articles, five books and over 30 book chapters.
Head of School of Agriculture & Environment Professor Paul Kenyon said the title was recognising Professor Ravindran as a world leader in poultry nutrition.
鈥淭hrough his leadership he has grown Massey鈥檚 reputation and his legacy is that we now have a poultry nutritional team that is in demand for its鈥 expertise, both nationally and internationally.鈥
Professor Ravindran has been awarded numerous research grants from national and international sources for his research and has received multiple awards. His scientific expertise has been recognized by invitations to consult by industry, government and international agencies and to serve in the Editorial Boards of several international journals, including British Journal of Nutrition, Animal, Animals, Animal Production Science, Poultry Science, Animal Feed Science and Technology and Journal of Animal Science.
