Accommodation office contactsOwned and run by the Presbyterian Educational Purposes Trust, Fergusson Hall is privately owned and offers rooms in Keiller House and 4 10-bedroom cottages. All 82 rooms are fully-furnished single rooms in a range of sizes ideal for students aged 17 to 23. Fergusson Hall is a supportive community with friendly staff.
Fergusson Hall offers the flexibility of self-catered living. Get creative with your meals in the 2 large communal kitchens equipped with appliances.
Enjoy unlimited wifi in all rooms, common areas and communal study rooms. The common areas include a study room, a large games room with a piano and 2 lounges with TVs.
Fergusson Hall is located in a quiet residential area on large private grounds, with spaces to relax and play sports, and within a 10-minute walking distance of the Massey campus.

Here's what you can expect in each fully furnished single room:
- King single or single divan bed 鈥 rest comfortably on a spacious king single or single divan bed, complete with a mattress and mattress protector for a good night's sleep.
- Study area 鈥 study from the comfort of your own room. Your room includes a designated study desk, chair and desk light.
- Shelf, mirror, rubbish bin and wardrobe 鈥 you will have plenty of storage space for your clothes, books and personal items.
- Heater, carpet and curtains 鈥 for a cozy and comfortable living environment year-round.
- Bar fridge 鈥 to store snacks and beverages.
- Privacy and security 鈥 enjoy peace of mind with a lockable door, ensuring privacy and security for each resident.

By bringing along these essential items, you'll be well-prepared for your stay in Fergusson Hall and can settle in comfortably from day 1.
- Bedding and towels 鈥 ensure a comfortable sleep by bringing your own bedding, including sheets, blankets and pillows. Don't forget to pack towels for personal use and tea towels for drying your dishes.
- Clothing hangers 鈥 keep your wardrobe organised with clothing hangers for hanging clothes in your wardrobe.
- Toiletries and toiletries bag 鈥 bring along your toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap, and store them in a toiletries bag for easy access.
- Cookware and utensils 鈥 eat well for your studies by bringing your own pots, pans, wooden spoons and spatulas for cooking.
- Dinnerware 鈥 bring your own plates and cutlery.
- Laundry powder 鈥 stock up on laundry powder to keep your clothes clean and fresh throughout your stay.
- Cleaning products 鈥 keep your living space tidy by bringing cleaning products such as surface cleaner, wipes and dish washing detergent.
- 3M hooks/tape or white tac 鈥 if you wish to hang anything on your wall (no tape, nails, screws or blu tac allowed).

Bathrooms at Fergusson Hall are shared gender neutral. The student to bathroom ratio is 5 people per toilet/shower.

Meal prep and dining
Fergusson Hall is self-catered. Students can store food in their fridges in their rooms and prepare their meals in the communal kitchens, which also have lockable storage for food and communal freezer space.
There are a range of supermarkets in Palmerston North, for students to purchase food from. The hall offers weekly van trips to the supermarket.
The hall鈥檚 4 cottages share a separate building which includes a dining room and kitchen.

Fergusson Hall has several common areas that include a study and computer room, a large games room, 2 lounges with TVs, dining spaces, and 2 kitchens.
The common kitchens include gas hobs, ovens, toasters, microwaves, electric jugs and lockable cupboards and drawers for residents to store their food and equipment.
The hall鈥檚 4 cottages share a separate building with a large lounge, dining room, kitchen and study room.
Fergusson Hall has extensive grounds with a sports field, sand volleyball court, basketball hoop and BBQ area.
There is a shared laundry with 6 washing machines, which are free to use 鈥 students supply their own detergent. Dryers are coin-operated ($2 per hour). Outdoor and covered washing lines are available.

Alcohol
Fergusson Hall limits the amount of alcohol a resident is permitted to have at the Hall. Students are allowed to keep small quantities of alcohol in their bedrooms of less than 16% alcohol content.
You can drink in designated social areas provided the level of noise does not cause any disturbance to anyone else around you and you respect our social areas.
Alcohol must be consumed in its original container, i.e. not in water bottles or glasses (other than wine in wine glasses). No one under the age of 18 years is permitted to consume alcohol at Fergusson Hall.

Car parking and bike storage
Car parking and bike storage
Fergusson Hall has 50 parking spaces on-site in a well-lit area and a separate visitors鈥 car park. Residents need to register for a parking space which is $10 per semester.
Bike storage is available free in a lockable shed. Bikes are not permitted inside the house or cottages.

Payment options
Our payment options are flexible to suit your financial preferences.
You can choose to pay by semester, full year, fortnightly, weekly, or $130 weekly payments with an initial lump sum payment. Only domestic students can pay on a weekly basis.

Deposit
When your application for accommodation is successful, you will be sent an offer. You will need to pay a deposit on acceptance of this offer to secure your place in halls.
To guarantee your place, you need to pay the deposit by the offer expiry date stated in your letter of offer.

Payment process
Follow the instructions provided in your offer letter to make the deposit payment. Payment methods and deadlines will be outlined in the offer letter.
Once your deposit is received and processed, you'll receive your confirmation of place and further instructions about move-in dates and procedures.

Withdrawal and refund eligibility
To secure a refund of the bond, mattress protector and activity fee, you must cancel before the specified deadline. The processing fee is non-refundable and will not be included in the refund amount.
Withdrawal deadline
- Returning halls residents 鈥 cancellations must be received by 1 December 2025.
- New hall residents 鈥 cancellations must be received by 23 January 2026.
