We have聽a long tradition of honouring the success of M膩ori graduates.聽Find out when and where M膩ori graduation ceremonies are and how to participate.

Each year, Te Kunenga ki P奴rehuroa hosts M膩ori graduation ceremonies for all 3 campuses. Graduands can choose to receive their degrees and diplomas in a M膩ori ceremony 鈥 M膩ori graduation ceremonies are open to all students.

You are welcome to bring wh膩nau and friends to M膩ori Graduation. Further details will be available soon. Please refer to our Graduation page.

What happens at M膩ori graduation

Here鈥檚 what will happen at the ceremony:

  • whakatau for manuhiri
  • graduates in their academic dress will be individually acknowledged with their degree and iwi affiliations and called to the stage to receive their degrees and diplomas
  • wh膩nau will have the opportunity to mihi to them (for example, karanga, waiata, haka, karakia)
  • refreshments.

Bringing guests and tamariki

You are welcome to bring up to 10 guests with you to the ceremony. Children are welcome. It is inspiring for our tamariki to see the success of their wh膩nau.

What to wear

You're required to wear academic dress and the hood of your discipline. You may wear Korowai (M膩ori cloak) with your academic regalia. Cloaks should be worn over the gown and under the hood.
