The Hinemoa Hilliard Memorial Scholarship has been established by Toi Rauwh膩rangi College of Creative Arts in conjunction with Hinemoa鈥檚 whanau, to remember, recognise and celebrate her influence as an inspirational teacher and writer, and to support strong writing about M膩ori art and design.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a M膩ori student who can produce strong writing about M膩ori art and design.
What you'll be studying
This is an undergraduate scholarship. You will be entering the second year of your qualification. You will be enrolled in a programme within the College of Creative Arts. You will already have completed one of these courses: Communication for Makers (237.130), Conversations in Creative Cultures (237.131) or Ng膩 Hanga Whakairo (150.106).
Eligibility criteria
You must:
- be M膩ori
- be enrolled in a programme offered by the College of Creative Arts
- have completed courses as outlined in this award's regulations
- be a domestic student
- be entering the second year of your qualification.
Application checklist
Include the following with your application:
- a brief statement of your whakapapa or your relationship to whakapapa (up to 250 words)
- a brief statement of your engagement with kaupapa M膩ori and manaakitanga (up to 250 words)
- one graded written assignment of your choice from a first year Contextual Studies course (Communication for Makers 237.130 or Conversations in Creative Cultures 237.131) or Ng膩 Hanga Whakairo (150.106). This must include the grade received and the mark schedule/marker's feedback
Selection considerations
When choosing our recipient, we will consider the strength of your writing about M膩ori art and design and your engagement with kaupapa M膩ori and manaakitanga. We may also consider your academic achievements.
