The Bachelor of Maori Visual Arts is a 4-year degree that focuses on the visual expressions of mana whakapapa, mana tiriti, mana whenua and mana tangata. The programme of study introduces the student to sculpture, installation, painting, digital media and digital photography. Students are also required to study Te Reo M膩ori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and M膩ori Culture electives.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about contemporary M膩ori arts.

What you'll be studying

These are undergraduate scholarships. You will be enrolling for full time study in any year of the Bachelor of M膩ori Visual Arts.

Application checklist

Include the following with your application:

  • 4鈥10 images of your artwork
  • a personal statement (around 300 words) about your interest in contemporary M膩ori arts, what studying at Toioho ki 膧piti means to you
  • a brief statement on your future goals and how these relate to your study
  • a copy of your High School results. This should be your NCEA Level 3 results or equivalent
  • a reference from a teacher, community leader, gallery director, or kaum膩tua (optional but encouraged)

Selection considerations

You don鈥檛 need to have years of art experience 鈥 what鈥檚 important is your enthusiasm, creativity, and openness to learning. We鈥檒l be looking mainly at your artwork and personal statement, while also taking academic results and references into account.
