The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) is a group of universities that allow exchanges between their students. The programme works a bit differently to a regular exchange, where you apply directly to a host university.
Fees, accommodation and living expenses
If you go on exchange through ISEP, you'll pay some basic costs to Massey instead of the university you go to (the "host university"):
- tuition fees
- accommodation costs
- meals while you're away.
This means you don't have to worry about sorting out living costs while you're away. Depending where you go, it might also save you money.
Applying to ISEP
After Massey has approved you as an exchange student, you can apply to ISEP. List at least four universities you want to study at on your application, and ISEP will work to place you at one of them. Make sure all the universities you choose offer the subjects you鈥檙e taking at Massey.
Some universities have more exchange places than others. It鈥檚 wise to list a few universities on your application where there鈥檚 a good chance you鈥檒l get a place. You can find this information on the universities鈥 pages on the ISEP website.
You鈥檒l find out where you鈥檝e been placed about six to eight weeks after you apply to ISEP.
Universities with direct placements
If you want to go to one of the following ISEP universities, you don鈥檛 have to go through the normal ISEP application process and list four choices.
Our International Mobility Team will guide you through the application process.

ISEP medical insurance
Most students going on exchange to an ISEP partner university will need to buy ISEP's comprehensive medical insurance policy. You鈥檒l still need to buy Studentsafe insurance, too.

There are some countries where you won't need ISEP's full medical insurance policy.
Explore the World scholarships
If you go on exchange through ISEP, you'll automatically be considered for an Explore the World scholarship. This will happen automatically 鈥 you won't have to do anything extra.
The committee will decide if you qualify, based on your application and academic record. You can get an Explore the World scholarship even if you get funding from other scholarships.
